From the days of pearl diving to the emergence of a modern, diversified economy, “Milestones” narrates this remarkable journey.

Atkya Art played a pivotal role as the main consultant, overseeing project management, fabrication, and installation of this monumental work. Our extensive expertise ensured that every aspect of the project was meticulously handled, bringing Shua’a’s vision to life with precision and care.

“Milestones” is composed of various elements that each tell a part of Qatar’s economic story. The ropes wrapped around the sculptures signify the traditional pearl diving expeditions: twice for the two-month dives and four times for the 40-day dives. These details highlight the dedication and endurance of the early divers who were the backbone of Qatar’s initial economy.

The gold stone within the sculpture symbolizes wealth and prosperity, reflecting the transformation of Grand Hamad Street into a bustling financial district and gold souq. This element signifies the rapid economic development and modernization that Qatar has undergone in the past five decades.
