Salman Al-Malek is a distinguished Qatari visual artist and acclaimed cartoonist, showcasing his works locally and internationally. His pieces are featured in collections worldwide, notably including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).
One of his notable installations, Al Jassasiya 2022, pays homage to the historic Al Jassasiya Rock Art Site on Qatar’s northeast coast. This site, once a bustling seaport, boasts around 900 petroglyphs depicting marine life, geometric shapes, and more. Al-Malek’s sculpture, inspired by markings from the area, captures the essence of a boat with abstractly connected paddles, honoring the rich maritime heritage of Qatar.
